Just the Beginning...

Adam and I have been married for only a month and a half and we've already made such a huge life decision! A week after our triumphant return from our honeymoon we decided to start house hunting.

We're currently renting a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house and our lease is up at the end of March.  Since the two of us and our two kittens (who are more like fat cats now) have already outgrown this house, we decided it was time to look elsewhere.  It was a pretty easy decision to look into buying instead of renting for an additional year.  So, once we made that decision, we did some crazy online searches for houses that fit our price range and what we wanted in a house.

We were searching for for a multi-level home with 3 or more bedrooms and 2 or more bathrooms.  The first step we took was looking up those houses online and we drove by the properties, basically diminishing our list of houses drastically.

While we were doing our first drive-by of properties, we happened to see a Ryan Homes model office that was still open so we decided to stop in.  Neither of us had ever heard of Ryan Homes and really had no idea what to expect.  The girl at the office explained with Ryan Homes you're building your home, and she gave us some floor plans and took our information.  We were very intrigued by building our own home, so we decided to set up a meeting with the marketing/sales rep.

We continued setting up meetings to see "used" homes but were greatly underwhelmed.  During these house viewing appointments, we also met with Ryan Home about 4-5 more times.  After our first meeting we were pretty much jaded and imagine doing anything but build our own home.  And, since it was in our budget, we decided to go for it! We gave them a down payment a week and a half ago and  put the sold sticker on our lot sign!

We'll be building a Sienna Model which is a two-story, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, with a living room, dining room, morning room, and kitchen.  It's perfect!

During the next week we'll meet with Rite Rug, Guardian, and back with Ryan Homes to pick out all of the interior and exterior decorating and talk about the electrical mumbo jumbo (which my lovely husband will take care of!).  After all of these meetings we'll have the pre-construction meeting and they'll officially start building our home!

We plan on updating you every step of the way, and couldn't be more excited!
